Professor Francesco Locatelli is past Director of the Department of Nephrology and Dialysis at Alessandro Manzoni Hospital  Lecco, Italy and past teacher at Universities of Brescia and Milan . He is Past President of European Renal Association (ERA-EDTA), International Society of Blood Purification, International Society of Geriatric Nephrology and Italian Society of Nephrology. He is Honorary Member of Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian ,Serbian and Turkish Societies of Nephrology and past Council Member of International Society of Nephrology and he is International Distinguished Medalist and received the Garabed Eknoyan Award of US National Kidney Foundation. He is Honorary Doctor at the Paron University Iasi , Romania. He is also honorary fellow of Royal College of Physician of London, U.K. ( FRCPC).He received the 2013 Award from ERA-EDTA for his outstanding scientific and clinical achievements and the 2017 Umberto Buoncristiani Award or his outstanding clinical and scientific achievements.He also served as chairman of the board of European Best Practice Guidelines (EBPG) and  on the board of National Kidney Foundation, Dialysis Outcome Quality Improvement, (NKF-DOQI), and on the executive board of directors of Kidney Disease Improvement Outcome (KDIGO). He was President of World Congress of Nephrology 2009. He published more than 600 papers in nephrology fields including   glomerulonephritis, CKD progression, Dialysis and anemia He is a member of the expert group of the KDIGO controversy conference on anemia 2019 and 2021."
