Dr FUNG served in Hong Kong Society of Nephrology (HKSN) as Chairman of the Society from 2012-2014. During the tenure, HKSN co-hosted with the International Society of Nephrology the ISN World Congress of Nephrology 2013 in Hong Kong. He was the Vice President of the Congress and Scientific Committee Member 1st International Congress of Chinese Nephrologists & Scientific Congress on Nephropathies held at the HK Convention Centre, Hong Kong 11-13th December 2015. He was the Co-Chairman for the Hong Kong Hospital Authority Central Renal Committee Hospital Authority Commission Training Workshop & Symposium on Vascular Access: A Vital Key to Success in Haemodialysis on15-16 January 2011. He also served in the Organizing Committee Member for the World Kidney Day Hong Kong.

He has publications in peer-reviewed journals in research on renal anemia, BK nephropathy, hyperparathyroid renal bone disease and Nocturnal Home Haemodialysis. He has been working as site Principal Investigator for the studies SONAR on Diabetic Nephropathy; ASCEND study on renal anemia, TESTING study, PROTECT on IgA Nephropathy, DUPLEX Study on FSGS & VALOR on delaying CKD progression.
