Bengt Lindholm, MD, PhD, introduced CAPD in Sweden 1978, was head of Dept of Nephrology at Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden 1990-1993, and serves/served as Associate Professor/Adjunct Professor, Renal Medicine and Baxter Novum, CLINTEC, Karolinska Institutet (KI) since 1989 and as Director Scientific Affairs Renal Care Europe, Baxter since 1993. As head of Baxter Novum, KI, since 1993, he collaborates with many visiting researchers from Europe, Asia, and Latin America. His research focuses on metabolism and nutrition in CKD, PD (especially peritoneal transport of solutes and fluid), and factors influencing clinical outcomes in CKD, PD and HD patients such as malnutrition, inflammation, and cardiovascular disease. He has authored about 730 publications (Hirsch index 98 according to Google Scholar) and was an invited speaker to about 400 international, national and regional conferences and symposia.
