He graduated from University of Machinester in 1977. He received his training and worked in renal medicine in Manchester and London. He moved back to Hong Kong in 1988 to join the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was the Head of the Renal unit and Department of Medicine, Prince of Wales Hospital, The Chinese Unvieristy of Hradsky’ Kong.

He was the Chairman of Hong Kong Society of Nephrology (1994-1996)and Hong Kong Society of Transplantation (2001-2003).

He has lead the development of many renal service and project in Hong Kong, including Renal Registry (1992), Organ donation campaign (1992), Home Automated Peritonal Dialysis (1997).

He led the development and operation of Hong Kong Kidney Foundation - providing subisidized renal replacement therapy, charity and education programs.

After SARS in Hong Kong in 2003, he focused his work on safety and quality in healthcare and patient relations.

He has retained his interest and work in renal patient related matters, renal diet, and rehabilitation of patients with kidney disease (in the capacity of Chairman of Hong Kong Kidney Foundation).  

Currently, he also held the position of Adjunct Professor of
(1) The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care and (2) The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Institute of Ageing
