Professor Nan Chen is director of the Institute of Nephrology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the tenuated professor in the Department of Nephrology at Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

She was formerly president of the Chinese Society of Nephrology and the vice president of  Chinese medicine association of nephrology. She currently serves as president of China Medicine Education Association of nephrologist and Shanghai Medical Association, Rare Disease Branch.

Dr. Chen was elected as an Academician of the French National Academy of Medicine and an ISN Educational Ambassador. She is both a clinician and well-known physician-scientist. She has published ore than 300 papers in international peer-reviewed, Pubmed indexed journals, including New England Journal of Medicine, received more than 30 grants and multiple scientific awards for her research projects, and leads a research team at Ruijin Hospital.
