Martin Kuhlmann

Vivantes | Nephrology

Dr. Kuhlmann, a board certified Internist, Nephrologist and Diabetologist, serves as Director of the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology, at the Vivantes Hospital Friedrichshain in Berlin, Germany. He is Associate Professor of Medicine and Nephrology at the University of Saarland, Germany. He pursued his nephrology training at the Universities of Freiburg and Saarland, Germany and received basic research education at UCLA, Los Angeles, CA. From 2003 through 2005 he served as Clinical Research Director at the Renal Research Institute in New York and held a Visiting Professorship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA.

Dr. Kuhlmann’s academic research experience has developed around the management of chronic kidney disease with a special focus on quality assessment of the various modes of renal replacement therapy and outcomes in end stage renal disease. He has actively participated in various international multicentre studies including the FDA-sponsored Frequent Hemodialysis Network (FHN) Study.

Dr. Kuhlmann has published more than 130 original papers in international peer reviewed journals. He is member of several societies, including the German Nephrology Society, the German Diabetes Society, The European Renal Association, the American Society of Nephrology and the International Society of Nephrology.
