Graduated at the university of Pavia, Italy, in 2006 summa cum laude. In 2007 I moved to New York for a PostDoc fellowship at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in the Department of Geriatrics, Division of Experimental Diabetes and Aging, under the supervision of Prof. Helen Vlassara and Prof. Gary E. Striker. PhD in Internal Medicine and Medical Therapeutics at the university of Pavia in 2010. Nephrology fellowship at the University of Pavia under the supervision of Prof. Antonio Dal Canton (head of the specialty school) and Prof. Ciro Esposito between 2010 and 2015. Specialist in nephrology since 2015.

2015-2020: nephrologist in the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit of the ICS Maugeri in Pavia

2020-present: coordinator of the dialysis unit of the Centre Hospitalier Le Mans, France, in the Nephrology unit directed by Prof. Giorgina Barbara Piccoli.

Since 2007, I have published more than 60 papers on basic and clinical research on chronic kidney disease, diabetes, dialysis, nutrition in CKD, and kidney transplantation.

Associated editor for BMC Nephrology for the clinical research section; associated editor for Journal of Nephrology. Editorial board member of Frontiers in Medicine and Kidney and Dialysis. Guest editor of the Nutrients special issue “Clinical experiences and open issues in multidisciplinary management of CKD”, the Kidney and Dialysis special issue “COVID-19 and the Kidney” and the Journal of Clinical Medicine special issue “Kidney Diseases and Kidney Involvement in Pregnancy: The Crossroad of Obstetrics, Nephrology, Urology and Internal Medicine – Part II”.
