Denis Fouque, MD, PhD, is Professor of Nephrology at the University Claude Bernard Lyon1, and Chief of the Division of Nephrology at Lyon Sud Hospital in Lyon, France. Dr Fouque has published 410 papers, including reviews, meta-analyses and 25 book chapters. He received more than 24,000 citations. His research fields are in nutrition and metabolism in chronic kidney disease and dialysis. He was director of adipocyte dysfunction research group in INSERM 1060 Unit at the University Claude Bernard Lyon1. Dr Fouque got training in Evidence based Medicine by founding the Cochrane Collaboration Renal Group in 1997 and being the Co-ordinating Editor until 2001. Dr Fouque was President of the International Society for Renal Nutrition and Metabolism (2004–2006), Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Renal Nutrition (2003-2010) and chairman of the ERA-EDTA Nutrition Guideline (2007). Dr Fouque is past Research vice-president at the University Claude Bernard Lyon, vice-chairman of the European Renal Best Practice group of ERA-EDTA and a member of the K-DIGO Advisory Board. Dr Fouque is currently member of the council of ISRNM and ERA-EDTA, and Editor in chief of Nephrol Dial Transplantation journal.
